Colombo [Sri Lanka], April 23 (ANI): Hosts Sri Lanka Women announced a 17-member squad with Chamari Athapaththu as the captain for their upcoming tri-nation series against India and South Africa, as per the ICC official website.
The hosts are coming into the series on the back of a 2-0 ODI series loss in New Zealand. As many as eight changes have been made to the SL squad that featured against the White Ferns.
Spinner Malki Madara has received a maiden call-up to the ODI squad.
Madara had forged impressive debut bowling figures during the T20I series in New Zealand, helping Sri Lanka to their solitary win on the multi-format tour.
Among other changes, the likes of Vishmi Gunaratne, Nilakshi Silva, Hasini Perera, Piumi Wathsala, Dewmi Vihanga, Inoka Ranaweera and Hansima Karunaratne are back in the fray.
The tri-nation series, kicking off on April 27 in Colombo, will provide vital preparation for all three teams ahead of the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2025 in India.
